Default Seafoam in Oil

Prior to pouring a can of Seafoam into my gas tank, I noticed on the back of the can that it says Seafoam can be added to the oil. I was curious if anyone had done this and what it does for the engine?

the only sea foam I've seen is used to clean your intake by sucking it up with a vacuum line..you poured it into your gas tank?

Yep, poured the whole can in the tank to clean up the fuel injectors. It actually says that on the back of the can and I also learned to do that when I worked at a Carquest store. Seemed to make the truck run a little quieter almost immediately. And the idle smoothed out a little also.

I put it through the oil and there were no ill affects. I got the oil changed by a shop (don't hate) so I couldn't tell you if it cleaned out a lot of crud or not. But it doesn't hurt to use it. Disco Mike is a seafoam guro, he should be able to enlighten you more.
I also run it through the gas every other fill up. My engine runs Very nicely.

Jupiter, as long as you are running premium gas you only need to run it in your gas tank every other oil change.

AK, do your engine one better and switch to full synthetic motor oil. It will clean your engine as you drive.

If you need a motor oil additive then you need a new motor oil.

Seafoam doesn't work as well in the crank case as it does in the tank and thru the induction system.

I read the procedure on the back of the Seafoam can for using a vacuum line to suck it in. Any recommendations on where to find a line on the engine that will do this well?

My plan is to switch to synthetic at my next oil change. Would like to use Royal Purple but will probably go with Mobil 1 since that is what the shop I take it to for oil changes use.

I have RP in everything. Even Purple Ice in the radiator. Ask you oil change guy to stock it for you. Most places will. I even saw RP at the WalMart down the street. Let me know if you need a local vendor..

Use the PCV hose on the pass side of the engine. It's the hose that goes from the valve cover to the intake plenum.
Remove it from the valve cover and let the engine suck it in.

Cool. Thanks for the tip. I'll do that as soon as I get back to work where I have my Rover for now.
