Default Secondary air pump noise

When first starting my 01 D2, the air pump is extremely loud. Once driving for 30 seconds or so it gets quiet. I took it to the dealer and they said since the pump was not bad yet they could not replace it under warrenty. Now that it is out of warrenty I am wondering if it is something that I should look into replacing. How does one test to see if the air pump is actually working? Although I also see air pump rubber mounts available. I am wondering if mine are bad. Dealer did not mention anything about those being bad.

There is a filter to the air pump, check and clean it and see if that helps.

I will check and clean the filter. I checked the mounts for the air pump and those were fine.

I would think that if it were the mounts or tubing that it would be noisy all the time and not just when cold.

Mine is like that too. Been that way for years. It goes away after 30 seconds so I don't worry about it. I guess I should check the filter too.

Mounts looked good. Filter was not too bad, but cleaned it with soap and water and let it dry. Still the same. I probably won't worry about it until it fails.

Idaho, the filter is on the front of the pump itself. Just a plastic cap that covers it. Pops off fairly easily.
