Default Seized brake caipers

Sorry, Seized Calipers
1999 Disco II, 106,000 mi.

Well just as the title states, I have the rear passenger side and front driver's side siezed. I knew the pads and rotors were shot, but I had to drive it down the block to get the lug nuts broken loose since my friendly tire shop decided that they should tighten them so that they would never be removed. Well as I was pulling away, the pads fell out causing the piston to push all the way out. My question is this:
A) Any possible way to get them "un seized"?
B) Is there any type of rebuild kit for fixing this?
C) Do I have to bite the bullet and buy new calipers?
Thank you all in advance for your responses.

Alex

They sell rebuild kits for calpiers on our trucks, but honing calipers is kinda a thing of the past. Having said that the pistons came all the way out on yours, I would say its a much safer bet to just replace the whole unit(s). Get a tube of silicon grease for the pins and bleed with DOT4 when you service your brakes. If the calipers do not come with new caliper mounting brackets and pins, get your hands on those as the coating on the pins is probably way past servicable and needs replacing.

www.autopsortunlimited.com has the best price on new calipers, $70 each.
You cannot buy used ones and in my opinion a rebuild kit is a waste of time.

How mechanical are you? You will need to rebuild or replace those 2 calipers along with all your brake pads and rotors. How long has it been since you changed your brake fluid?
If you can't remember then plane on doing all 4 calipers.
Check out Atlantic British for all the parts.

Thank you for the responses. Spike, that link seems to be broken, do you have a number I could contact them at? Mike, I've been working on cars for a while now and I am pretty mechanically inclined. If there is something that I am stuck on I have my brother who is a mechanic to help me out with. I ordered a brake kit from AB, all for rotors and pads. I flushed the brake fluid a year ago. What info can you give about rebuilding them? Thanks again guys!!!

So, what are you going to do with the seized rotors?
Plan on a full flush again to get rid of any junk from the calipers.
Make sure to use lots of sound deadening spray on the backing plates.

Well actually, the rotors came off fairly easily, they were not seized. I am replacing the rotors and pads on all four corners. I will flush the system again as you recommended. Spike, thanks for the link. I guess they are out of stock for the calipers. I searched for them and it says "no matches found" Should I stay away from the ebay calipers? I don't plan on keeping this thing any longer, I should have a newer vehicle in a couple of months.

Call them, they have them, they did not have mine in stock but they had them the next day for me to pick up.

800-624-3876 ask for Chris and tell him that Phil the FedEx guy from land Rover Forums sent you.
