Default "Series II" Emblem

On the back door of the Discovery 2 it has raised lettering which says "DISCOVERY", I often see a "Series II" emblem directly to the right. My 99 doesn't have that emblem, was that introduced in 2000? I was able to take the emblem off of a 2000 from the junkyard and I'm going to place it on mine (somehow). It just got me thinking, that's all.

My '99 had one; my 2003 does not.

My recollection is it is offered on the 1999 to 2002 Discos (4L engines).

The 2003 to 2004 (4.6L) did not come with these Series-2 emblems. Some of the 2004 with the Trail package would have a "Trail Edition" emblem in that same position such as the pic below.

“Offered” meaning it’s was probably an optional extra, right? That would explain why some have it and some don’t. I’m surprised it wasn’t on all 99’s to differentiate it from the Disco 1’s it was built along side with.

I’ve got one on my ‘01 which reminds me I need to get another one. All the silver on it is gone. It’s just a black badge.

I am thinking it is actually a standard option, and not an optional feature.

Dunno for sure, but I've always thought the Series II badge was on all pre-facelift trucks ('99-'02) and was then dropped on the '03-'04 facelift trucks.

Yep standard on the 99-02's and when the 03-04 came out they didn't have em.

Funny. I just got done removing the "TRAIL" badge. I left the bull bar and aux lights on the truck - tossed the ladder and tail light guards years ago...
