Mean Green makes a great product, their customer service sucks, so if you go that way, don't be in a hurry, could takes weeks to get in touch with then, pay, order and receive the new one which will need a new pulley and serpentine belt.

Do not install a new battery intil your are absolutly sure the alternator is in good working order or replaced .
The problem you have is caused by the regulator in the alternater overcharging the battery which will cause the electrolite in the battery to boil and build pressure thus cause the battery case to crack. You will need to clean the area where the battery acid splattered with Baking soda and water to stop the corosion on paint and metal.

 

Excellent point, battery "fluid" is sulfuric acid, acid eats stuff, including paint, electrical connections, cloths, skin...
