Default Serp Belt - Tensioner Pully?

Working on replacing my Serp belt this morning.

From the Rave manual I see the location of the Tensioner Pulley; but it does not describe how to reduce or increase the belt tension. Other belts I’ve changed have all been adjustable via the Alternator. This is configration is new to me.

Would appreciate guidance and any advise?

As well is there anything else I should look at while I’m there. From search I see that certain TPs were being replaced as a recall item…

Take a large wrench and rotate the pulley in to take of the pressure.

Yeah, it confused me a little at first too. It's just spring tension with no adjustment. I wondered if this spring ever has a tendency to lose it's tension after a while though... I would guess not, judging by the tension, the belt doesn't seem to require that much.

Are your idler and tension pulleys the original plastic ones? (I didn't see which Disco you have). You may want to consider replacing them with steel pulleys if they are (although I couldn't find a steel tensioner pulley). I think that one of these pulleys was recalled due to bad bearings (both of mine were bad). My replacement idler was a very nice steel unit, the tensioner pulley I got was plastic again (these have been know no break after a while if prolonged to high heat - I'm not going to worry too much because I don't live in the desert)

Thanks for the responce- I justdiscovered that the TPis a spring action device.

My Disco is a 2003. I don't believe theother pulleys areplastic; but thanks for the heads-up on that.
