is the light supposed to pop on for no good reason around 57k miles?

got the codes read.

came up code P0501 if i remember right. anyway said error 02 bank 1

so i assume its a bad 02 sensor on bank 1, front.

one the way home i stop and get gas and drive a bit. next thing i know the light goes out. interesting,,,

i assume the sensor is going bad or the pigtail is loose or gummed up. i will clean it up and if the light pops up i know its failing.

thanks for nothing you jackals

When I saw your post this afternoon, I almost replied, "No the SES light is not going to pop on for no good reason. Get your codes read." But, I figured someone that's been here as long as you have would know that already

the reason i asked was on my motorcycle the engine light comes on to remind of oil changes and service. i was thinking that at 57k miles that LR programmed into the computer a similar warning light.

then i read the codes just in case and it came up with a bad O2 sensor. i got a fresh tank of gas and drove home and the light went out.

i love my rover. its self fixing hahaha

It is a good question. My 1992 Jeep Cherokee did it too. It came on at 52,000 miles I think and was designed to stay on unless you had the dealership clear it. Since it was an OBD1 system, you couldnt just do it yourself back then.

How long have you been on the site and you have to guess and assume.
Go verify the code cause it sure isn't an 02 sensor.
We also don't compare what motor cycles and Jeeps do to determine if our Rovers are doing the same thing.

I assume he meant P0150 which is outside of stoichiometric ratio

P0501 is a misfire code, isn't it?

EDIT

I'm sorry, those are the P030x codes.

That looks to be VSS code.

I think he messed up the code and meant P0150, I hear sloppyjoe huffs industrial solvents so just bear with him until the hangover wears off.
