Default Service Engine Soon

I just purchased a 2003 Land Rover Discovery SE7. The second day that I owned it, the "service engine soon" light came on. The first day I bought it, I topped up the gas tank (from 1/4 to 3/4 of a tank) with medium grade gas (87 octane). Could this cause the light to come on?

I did by a OBD II code reader and below is what it revealed:

P1170 Lambda Senson aging tv bank 1drive cycle c:signal out of range

How should I proceed?

I would erase the code, top up with premium and see what happens.

this car needs at least 91 or it will set codes and ping... not to say this it your problem, but try better gas, and see if it goes away...

ok...I refilled the take with high octane (92) and a few days later, the service engine soon light came on again. I checked the codes and got the same thing:

P1170 Lambda Senson aging tv bank 1drive cycle c:signal out of range

Should I go ahead and replace the O2 sensor? and if so how do I know which one?

clear the code, if it comes back, give us the exact 4 digit fault code not your version of it.
