Service Engine Soon lights on
I got the Service Engine Soon lights on on my 2003 Discovery. I did try to recheck the gas cap and the light went off two times after I did so, but this time it just stay on and on and never disappear anymore. Also the truck is loosing power and I found my truck was kind of shaking and stumbling when I stop at the intersections. And I always got some water on the ground near the rear exaust pipe every morning when I first start the behicle. And Ichecked the exaust pipe and got my figers all black when Itouchedthe inside of the pipe. It sounds to me the engine is running very rich and I am not sure if there's collant leaking inside the engine itself.
I am looking for some advices here on where I should start to do further dignosis, do I likely have something wrong on O2 sensors? or engine block is leaking coolant, etc?
Thanks a lot!

Possible head gasket? I picked up a code reader obd 2 for $39.00 to give me some idea of whats going on with my cars/trucks . beats going to garage for them to hook it up for $40 to $75.00 just to say this is what it is or might be. For 5 minutes work i might add

if its shaking when you come to a stop, its most likely a misfire. did the light ever start flashing? if it is, you will get a very rich exhaust mixture due to the engine thinking its reunning lean, its weird, but thats how it works. grab a spray bottle, fill it with water and mist the plug wires when the engine is running, if you see little sparks and hear a clicking sound, you need new ones.

RE: Service Engine Soon lights on
Sounds like you need new spark plugs and plug wires.
Water coming out of the tailpipe in the morning is normal, running rich or not the inside of the tailpipe will be dirty, its the nature of the internal combustion engine.
You need to have your check engine codes read. Let us know what they say and we can help you.
