SES Light Flashing P0302, P0306, P0327, P1300, P0159
Daughter's Disco II has been having the SES/CEL light for sometime (I think P0159). I hadn't had time to get it to the house and check it out. Then she told me that it would start flashing for a bit under hard acceleration. Told her to have her shop check it out. They changed the plugs noting that Cyl 2 plug was really bad and that he wanted to run a very special process on it. So I called him up and after talking the "Special Process" was simply a engine flush and cleanout using the BG Dynamic Engine Cleaner and Rinse. He wanted to charge $1k to run the process.
I let he know that we can do it far cheaper. The whole BG kit was about $250 off Amazon.
Then she told me the SES light would start flashing as soon as she would start the truck, put in drive, and start accelerating. Told her to bring me the truck.
Was getting P0327 code. I do not know what other codes were happening before she took it to the shop.
Checked the codes before the flush, and was getting P0159, P0302, and P1300) This was after the shop changed all the plugs.
I ran the BG Flush kit through the engine and the BG 44K gas treatment that came with the kit. I sure as heck did something because the truck start smoking like a coal powered train.
Changed all the oil back to our normal Mobil One Synthetic and new oil filter.
As soon as you crank the truck and start to drive, SES starts flashing.
Now I'm getting P0302, P0306, P0327, P1300 and P0159-pending.
I know I have to probably replace O2 sensors, but I've never seen them cause the SES to flash. Knock Sensors will, but is the knock sensor bad or it accurately reporting that I have misfires on Cyl2 and Cyl6? Was thinking coil packs but Cyl2 and Cyl6 are on different coil packs.
Could I have a bad Cat? Replacing 02 sensors straighten everything out? Do that first before chasing Cyl Misfires? Two many things going on at the same time?
Could the BG Engine flush just fowled everything up? My thoughts when it was recommended it "Yeah, it will clean up sludge in the Engine, but it is all going to go some where and not just in the oil pan. What sensors is it going to foul up?"

Tackle the misfires first by going through the ignition components, plugs, wires, coils. Also check compression or leak-down, especially cyl 2 + 6. My understanding is the CKP sensor reports misfires, not the knock sensor. Misfires can cause the engine to run rough, vibrate, and set codes immediately when severe.
Just found out that my lovely daughter has decided to be a Big Girl and took it in the shop in 06/2024 and they replaced the coil packs, plug wires (not sure which brand) and all new plugs. So for now I am going to rule out coil packs and plug wires. For some reason they did not do a compression check. I called them and they are not sure why they didn't do a compression check. They did find that the coil brackets were upside down and plug wires we melted and arcing due to not properly routed. Must have been done when The Shop installed a new Cannible v8 back in 2014.
Got two new denso plugs on the way. I'll update after I slap those in.
