Default ses trouble codes.

I had this posted in another forum but it seems to get only light traffic, and I saw that 20+ users are on at a time on this forum.

The ses light has been on for a little while in our 2003 Disco. It has about 64,000 miles

I took it to the parts store yesterday and they scanned the codes:

P0130 Bank 1 Sensor 2

P0172 System 2 lean bank 1

Those were the codes and that was their explanation.

I have noticed under heavier acceleration it surges a bit.

I have run some seafoam through the tank and also intend to do the throttle body and upper plenum very soon along with the 60,000 mile service.

Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

Scott

First, has it had the 60K service with a tune up including new wires?
With that 02 failed, you can throw a 172 fault codes. Replacing that one 02 will help correct this problem.

I haven't done the 60k service to it yet. I haven't also done the tune up. It's on my short list.

I will first try to figure out exactly what o2 sensor that is, and replace it. Seems there are several posts about o2 sensors and fault codes. I will review them a little.

Unless someone off hand just knows what one.

Thanks again,

Scott

P0130 O2 sensor circuit malfunction (bank 1, sensor 1)

That is the driver's side pre-cat sensor.

Thank you much. It is advised to replace the other side front too? Even with only 64k miles?

at 64,000 I would try to get away with replacing just the one and see if your codes go away and see what comes back.

I changed the o2 sensor the other day. Just the drivers side. I reset the light and it hasn't returned. The truck idles better and has smoother acceleration. I can't wait to complete the tuneup.

Thanks to everyone who helped.

I forgot to mention, the exhaust smells much better. I bet the mpg will even improve a little.

It will, funny thing yesterday my same O2 sensor took a dump. I got the same codes, should get the replacement sensor tomorrow. In the mean time I'm burning tons of gas because my truck thinks bank 1 is running lean so it is dumping in the fuel.

Default more check engine light codes

All was well for about a week and now I have a couple new codes. I went to the parts store and they scanned it again.

2003 Disco se7 63k no tune up yet, didn't seafoam the engine yet.

Now i'm getting P1414 and P1417 trouble codes. I searched the forum a little bit and it looks like it may have something to do with the sai system. One thread said to look over all the hoses that connect the secondary air control valves or something like that. I can hear the vacuum sound in the morning and every once and a while at a traffic light. Maybe 1 out of every 30 traffic light it will come on briefly

Any other specific advise? I should also say that I haven done the tune up, or seafoamed the intake or induction system.

I also recently fixed the coolant heater in the throttle body and put on new clamps. It fixed that leak, but I’m still smelling some antifreeze, but not losing any that I can tell in the tank. I tried to get the "borrowed" tester from the local chain parts store, but they didn’t have the correct fitting.

I'm hoping not a head gasket issue. I it is though I can probably do it in late Nov or early Dec because we are having a baby and will both be off for a little bit.

Thanks,

Scott
