Default Shifting hesitation

My truck started having a bit of trouble shifting yesterday. When I'm speeding up, say to 30mph, transmission seems to have trouble engaging in a higher gear. It will eventually but sometimes has a bit of a tug or a pull feeling when I then let up on the gas.

I realize that is a vague description, but I've got no codes, great temps and the only thing I see leaking at all is my transfer case (not bad). I definitely can tell something is off though and wondered if anyone has suggestions on where to start. I don't want to take it into the shop yet but also don't think I should just keep driving and hope it goes away...

2003 DII, head gaskets done, TW drive shaft, replaced transmission filter and fluids maybe 4 months ago.

Without sounding like an ***, did you refill it correctly? With it running and up to operating temp and shift through the gears? It just sounds like the symptoms I was having when my tranny fluid was low.

no, that is a perfectly fair question. I did refill it correctly, had the truck up to operating temp and pumped until it dribbled out. did the work with my dad, he went through the gears 2 or 3 times at least. i basically followed the "sticky" here to the T. the tranny is spotless, i just checked, no leaks at all that i can see and i've probably put on 2K or more since i did the work.

even so, i'll check the level again asap, see if i can pump any more fluid in.

Make sure the transfer case is filled to the top.
Remove the fill plug with a 1/2 socket ratchet.
To find the fill plug - follow the emergency brake cable.
The cable actually blocks the plug to a degree.

Make sure the battery is newer and the alternator is up to top notch also.
Transmission shifts with electrical signals and needs top voltage.
