Default Shifting Problems... Dam Women Drivers

So I bought a older Volvo XC wagon, hate to say its alot better commuter then the disco. Dads car is not working, so moms car was bumped to him, Mom gets Disco <-(BAD IDEA). Mom drives truck all in town, on short commutes heavy on the throttle. Then I use it on weekend to pull boats, snowmobiles ect.

ANYWAYS, The result is a not natural sounding "THUMP" when shifting from 1-2 and 2-3. I dont know what to do, would a fluid change help this? supposedly it was changed at 50k (now 104k). I dont see a tranny fluid dip stick like all the other auto cars in the world.

How would you even go about changing this? I don't have access to a lift anymore, so how much would a indie shop charge for it?

I know you've been gone awhile, but read through this.

And keep in mind that your transmission has it's own computer that "learns" how you drive.
So it is shifting thinking your mom is still driving not you.
