shocks?
Most of the 60,000 service has been done on my new '03 Disco (plus head gaskets, rebuilt steering box, and a few other things), and I've chased down all of my codes.
Next up, the suspension. I don't want to lift it or anything. I just want to replace the stock shocks with something similar.
I'm looking through British Atlantic and seem to see a lot options. I've been told that I can also keep my eye out for somebody upgrading or lifting their Rover, and pick up a good set of used shocks.
Any recommendations? Are Terrafirma Shock Kit - All Terrain - Land Rover from Atlantic British good replacements for stock?
Also, how tough of a job is this? I've looked through the forum for a step-by-step, but haven't found anything.

Or am I better off with something like MONROE SHOCKS & STRUTS :: OESpectrum® Shocks & Struts

ok, I finally found the threads I'm looking for (I was searching "shocks" not "shock absorbers").
It looks like I definitely do the install myself.
It seems like there's a lot of debate about whether the monroes or terra firmas are decent enough, or whether I should upgrade to ome's or something similar. For riding around town (almost never seriously off-road, just a lot of driving in the snow, and when it is off-road it's to get from point-a to point-b, not to go "off-roading"), what is my best bet for a comfortable ride?

I'm a relatively big opponent of the Monroes, I think they're poorly made. They're the OEM equipment on my Volvo and because they're electronically controlled they cost around $500 a strut, weak.
Without replacing the springs, to get the best improvement buy the Old Man Emu Sport shock which will far out perform and of the other shocks on the market, might go to British Parts of Utah and check them out.
By the way, have you had your front drive shaft rebuilt or replaced so it won't fail and take out your tranny?

While the discussion is up: anyone have any feelings/experience with these KYB shocks?
I need to do mine soon (next time I have the $ kicking around). I'd love to go with OME, but to get them to Canada will cost about 2.5x as much as Monroe or KYB (translates into they have to last twice as long to be worth it - changing shocks is easy, and frankly satisfying).
Thanks!

I installed OME's last summer and I think they are some of the best. KYB Gas Adjust are also good shocks ,but they are not made for the Discovery, only the KYB GR2's are and they are not as good. I'd go with OME.
