Default Which shocks best with TF 2" MD

I just purchased a 2001 Disco II, going with TF 2" MD with stock 18's and 265/60/18 BFG AT's. This will be a light weekend wheeler/ bum around on the weekends rig for my wife and I, in north TX. 80% of the time this will be on pavement. Any suggestions on shocks would be greatly appreciated (ride quality over wheelin performance).

Options are TF118/9 that can come with the kit, Bilstein 5100 (assuming they fit) or OME (expensive, worth it?). I'd prefer to purchase from BAtlantic, but currently out of stock. Will likely buy from Lucky8, but have heard that they can take a long time to ship.

Also, Are there steering/brake line (ext) upgrades required on a 2" lift aside from spring and shocks?

Disco 5 drives like butter, 99' 3/4 ton burb drives like a horse drawn carriage and trying to find the right in between, as this is on solid axles.

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated

The TF shocks were the best I could find of the standard variety... meaning not remote reservoir etc.

I've tried both the Bilstein and the OME Nitrochargers and the TF offer a smoother ride on the MD springs. The Bilsteins are not only expensive but seem to wear out much faster. like they aren't built for the weight of the vehicle. The OME were stiff all the time, never softened.

I have the TerraFirm 2" MD set up here and have been happy with the ride quality. There is a stiff ride element to my set up but I blame the E rated tires, not the suspension. Overall very happy with it

Terrafirma Medium Duty springs. Spray a clear coat on 'em to last longer... you'll thank us later...

check out TF adjustable +3" shocks....compressed height fronts is just under 18"..the soft setting is just a bit firmer than stock.....the non adjustable TF shocks were much firmer...

I had tf +2 in shocks with tf hd springs. I recently swapped out the tf shocks to Bilstein 7100 and night and day difference. The bilstein absorb bumps like they are supposed to compared to the tf which seemed to just skip over bumps.

my D2 has metal bumpers front and rear, winch, and roof rack.

Was very disappointed with Bilstein shocks on both our Dll and 110, both had rear shocks that leaked and 110 rode horribly, swapped them our for TF, regular/non-adjustable 2" on Dll and heavy duty overload on Defender (just rears). Ride difference on the defender was substantial, Bilsteins were, bam, bam, bam over every bump...before the one started leaking (barely a year and a half old/25K).

Very pleased with my OME Nitrocharger Sports, although they're new so I can't speak to longevity.
