Default Should I address this leak?

Recently got everything back together after oil pump gear change and after about an hour of driving I get some seepage and a few drips from the bell housing /oil pan junction. I double checked the tightness of the oil pan bolts and they are snug and I did follow the rave manual during it installation. My question is should I just leave it alone? Should I try to tighten the rear oil pan bolts down a bit more? Or pull the whole thing off and redo the gasket?(least favorite option) Do these leaks tend to get worse?

hey this is just a guess but you may have a rear main seal leak? I see that you replaced your oil pump did you have to remove the oil pan to get the timing cover off?

Keep track of it for the next week or so and then make a decision based on the amount of leakage.
I would suggest you deal with it cause it will most likely get worse.

Thanks for the replys. Its not the rear main seal, it was completly dry around it when I had the pan off. If I redo this gasket for the pan any tips other then what the rave says?

^ Absolutely do address it. Since you had the pan off and the leak appears to be isolated to the one side your crank seal may not be leaking yet... yet. If it's still there after a couple of weeks I'd re-do the gasket and apply Hylomar on re-assembly if you didn't the first time.

Pull the tranny inspection plate and see if there's any oil accumulation in there to possibly rule-out the main.

I noticed on my pan that I had to re-torque it 2-3 times after the job. Last time I decided to go a bit over that what RAVE suggested for torque on the bolts. No problems since.

But yes.........I had a same problem with my pan. Just re-torque it. Maybe a bit more than last time.

Thanks for the replys. Im 100% sure its not the rear main, it was bone dry when I had the pan off. What is hylomar? I used the black gasket sealer material in the spots indicated by the rave. Boris, did you re-tighten all the pan bolts or just the ones towards back of pan? Also, I used a gasket from atlantic british, If I opt to replace the gasket is there a brand you all would recommend from a autozone or advanced auto? I noticed from the pictures it seems some of the gaskets come in multiple pieces?

Yes on retighting all the bolts. I got my gasket from AB as well. And just like you mentioned I also used RTV on the front and back of the engine. I can't remember the torque spec (might of been 16 lbft) but I believe I went to 20 lbft of torque after retighting it for the third time. So far it's dry and it's been about 5-6 weeks I did it.

Hope this helps.

I snugged them all down and drove for about 5 miles and Im still getting some seepage. I really wish it was just a gusher of oil then I wouldnt feel so bad about tearing into again. Any thoughts on the gaskets I can get locally like at autozone or advanced auto? Also, any thoughts on what might have gone wrong with this current gasket? Im super meticulous, border line OC with this kind of stuff, all surfaces were shiny clean and I followed the rave to the letter.

Give it a week or so. There was oil between the gasket and the surface before you retightened it. Now it got squized out. Give it a few more days.
