Is this valid? I was planning to try and fix it.
May want to avoid that one, don't waste time looking as seller is a dumb *** and doesn't fix his D2. Well maintained D2s are out there with working and non leaking SRs that you won't have to spend mucho time and resources on.
......

I agree...

My sunroofs work beautifully, yes I've been through some leak issues, but hey, who hasn't? I love sunroofs....Will you marry me sunroof?

This is it: 2004 Land Rover Discovery 2 SE7 with nav backup cam
Carfax report shows that it spent its first year as a rental. 3 other owners. Tons of service records.

I contacted a rover mechanic in Portland (PDX British) who said he's down to go do an onsite inspection for $100. Worth it? My other leads aren't too strong.

i bought mine out of OK, but after a few fixes, i wish i had paid a little less then the $3900, but im happy so far still. it made the 6hour drive home, lol . iv done front shaft, rad hoses/thermostat, fluids, had to fix firestones stripped oil drain plug, reg and tax, insurance. so close to another $1k so far after buying it in Feb. still plan to buy brakes stuff, and the Nanocom which is like $420.

That's a nice one. A member in Dallas should go look for him. Um, that would be a rather long drive back home, though. For 6k or slightly less, or an old tractor, that might be a good deal.

I bet that was momma's car.

Yep, the one in Azle looks clean from the picture (and garage kept).

You can also do a broad Craigslist search by Googling "site:Craigslist.org Land Rover Discovery"

Posted a month ago....Very nice! Same rig as mine. Not worth the dough UNLESS it has expensive mechanical upgrades, no leaks, no nothing. Because their is no lift, no fancy tires, roof rack, bumpers...etc...it's hard to see that much money for a 2000, and it's not an SE either I don't think.

That Dallas CL D2 has been on/off CL a while now. Kinda high in the $$$$ department, but honestly if it was like new and every single item worked it beats 40k for a comparable new SUV.

I like the one in OR myself, but just don't rush into buying one. Test drive some get used to what to look out for and go from there.

'04 in Portland was a dud. I guess "perfect mechanical condition" means needing new head gaskets, valve cover leaks, timing cover leak, multiple other leaks... the list was long. He estimated $3k~ to get her fixed up. Pass. Now I'm $500 deep, still without a Rover Back to craigslist... now I know to not consider anything with any sort of listed issue (the warning flag here were the sunroofs), and been on the market for a few weeks. I just don't know why an owner would waste everyones time and money when he knows a Land Rover speciality mechanic is going to look at it. Scott from PDX British (http://pdxbritish.com/) is who took a look at it - they seemed like a really solid shop. He gave me a lead on an '02 as well.
