My side mirror's surface is scratched but the one on my parts truck is in good shape (passenger's side for both) - how can I swap these? Can I easily peel of the reflective surface and glue it back on the other truck?

The glass is bonded to a plastic mount the snaps into the mirror housing, the glass is heater so there a two connection the you will have to disconnect also. I practiced removing the glass in the bone yard, that way when i broke the clip it was no loss to me. You can buy universal replacement glass at most auto parts stores, but i dont think they are heated.

 

The glass, defroster and plastic frame are all one unit. You should be able to just pop them out by pulling horizontally on the inner edge of the mirror frame. Here's a better description: How to Replace the Side Mirrors on a 2001 Land Rover Discovery 2 | eHow.com

 

why not just swap out the entire mirror? its a five min job. three screws.

 

Glass shops can order you the mirror.
I had mine replaced by a glass shop, it was $35 total and took 10 min.
