The passenger should be on the first setting, and the drivers all the way out. The reason they have 2 settings is they are RH or LH drive vehicles. That way there is one mirror for both, you just have to adjust it.
Yes I think you are right okdiscoguy, even with the passenger one set out I still have to max out the adjustment to get a good view on th passenger side. I think the Land Rover engineers were just to lazy to make a LHD adjustment set up for LHD vehicles. Also in the UK I think the dual mirror bodysetting allows for trailer towing which I think was the designprimary function, but they killed two birds with one stone so to speak?!
