Default Ski Rack that fits factory side rails...

Hey, I just purchased this rack from Thule:

http://www.thuleracks.com/product.as...9&sku=5401

Anybody use them on their disco before? Are you happy with it?

I was pleased to see that some company made a rack that fits directly on to the Discovery side rails without having to purchase cross bars. All for under $200.

Anyway, I thought I'd throw it out there... I know ski season is fast coming to an end.

Just hope that it sticks up high enough to clear the hump.

Looks like it will, though.

I chose to go with the bars that let me attach different carriers on them so I could put a basket, car top carrier and other things up there as well, but that was definitely a good find.

I'm not familiar with that particular rack, but I'm very happy with my Thule bike carrier and Thule crossbars and kayak rack.

As far as it clearing the hump, it has no trouble at all. You can see in this picture of my bars that pretty much anything at that level will have no trouble with roof clearance.

Thule has an excellent reputation for their quality, just like Yakima.

I went with Yakima cross bars, mounted on myOEM lateral bars with extentions that are available at the dealer, or from such aftermarket companies as Atlantic british and the likes. It allows me to carry very long things, like my 94 inches long carrier in perfect balance. I think that these extentions should have been on the vehicles from the factory.

You can't see it very well, but I'm sure you get what I'm talking about !!!

Other pic: Older pic from lasdt year, but you can seethe extentions alittle better. I had carried 14 feet long 2X10s on that day. Where I'm getting at, is that what you got is perfect, but it woud be even better if mounted on those extentions.

I see.

I thought that something hung off the ski for your boot. The way they are in the pic, one is up and the other down.

I guess living in the South hasn't yielded too much snow skiing.
