Sleeves
I have my motor out and am looking for a machine shop to install sleeves. I am not interested in 2200 dollars for top caps, just the standard sleeve which will last another 100K most likely. Anyway, can anyone recommend a machine shop in Northern Arizona or Southern Utah? I have tentatively settled on Reynolds Motor Machine in St. George Utah but it is a 3 hour drive from Page AZ. I was hoping someone has had experience with a shop and can make a recommendation.
Thanks,
Chuck

I have had two sleeves rattling about for some time. Finally I noticed a head gasket leak at the number 6 cylinder with associated water spray, Upon disassembly I found a pressure leak at the inside of number 5 cylinder. So the sleeves are slipping and need to be replaced. The upper end was rebuilt 3 years ago by the previous owner..

Some sleeves slip, and only make noise, hitting the bottom of the head gasket.
Others, that leak coolant between the sleeve and block, may only be fixed by top-hat liners that have o-rings, to hold back the coolant.
So, if it's just noise, pin them.
A Land Rover Master Tech that posts here confirms it works, and has done it.
