Sloppy steering question
Just curious, I have tried adjusting the steering box with no luck, replaced Front Steering Drag Link & Track Tie Rod Bar, wheel bearings, front ball joints but still feels like Carnival cruise handling. If I replaced the steering box, steering column shaft and pump would that fix my issue? Not sure what else to do! Thanks for any suggestions
I'd check to make sure the 41mm(?) drop arm nut is tight as hell and the securing washer folded properly, along with the steering shaft u joints being in good shape and bolts tight on the spline clamps. Beyond that, box replacement is the only option. Once the box goes bad, no amount of adjusting will fix it.
Pump wouldn't cause looseness, so if it's good it's not necessary to replace unless you decide to replace whole system just for the hell of it. If you do replace it, don't buy a cheap off brand one. The one I had was dead on arrival due to horrible machining tolerances on the back plate causing binding of the internals which destroyed it. I got a reman from Cardone and while I haven't used it yet it seems to be much better quality.
I just went through this whole ordeal myself on my 02 and replaced the box with a good used unit from an 03/04. The boxes are actually different part numbers and there are slight differences, but they interchange without any issue. Box replacement is pretty simple and straight forward at least. Just takes some muscle to move them heavy things.

I went through this nightmare as well but my steering box was leaking like a sieve and I had sloppy steering. First I tried the Blue Devil stop leak but that didn't fix it. Then I bought a used steering box to save a few bucks which lasted about a month before it dumped fluid. Then I bought a refurb from rockauto for $400. It leaked as well so I sent it back for a replacement. Third one has held up for six months so far.
One thing to note, if you do this yourself, get ready for some serious wrenching. Most of the replacement units that I have seen don't come with a drop arm so you need to transfer the old one to the new. You need a large puller, 41MM socket and one heck of a breaker bar. Ask me how I know!

CV joints won't cause steering problems. There are good video tutorials on line that walk through steering checks for land rovers, mainly involving one person rocking the steering wheel while another person watches the steering linkages.
I had a similar troubleshooting run down as you and the U joints on the lower steering column had loosened up on mine. Probably won’t completely fix it, but at least for me, tightening those back up helped. All the slip joints and u joints on that shaft add up to a lot of little potential places for steering slop.
I think that is the real answer here. From all that I've read, having the castor correct arms makes a world of difference at 3" lift and above. I personally would start there and see if you're happy with it.
well now that you’ve said that, you should’ve done the caster arms first. Then start diag the rest if you still feel like it’s bad
These seem to be the best deal out there:
