Default Small Dexcool leak / what next??

As a fairly new Disco owner...

I'm facing my first issue regarding a fluid leak...

Last several days I've noticed a very small pool of fluid on the pavement directly underneath the engine block. I've also noticed the the expansion tank had lost contents & was down to roughly half full.

After adding more Dexcool & driving the vehicle with a watchful eye on the temp gauge - I have not noticed any significant loss of coolant. However, the spotting still remains.

The truck is currently at a very reputable radiator shop for diagnosis. After an initial pressure test on the system - they could not isolate the leak. More testing is planned today to see if they can further isolate the problem.

I asked about the head gaskets & they seem to think that they could be the culprit.

Any thoughts on what else could be in play besides the head gaskets?

Thanks in advance for any help provided!

What year is the truck? How many miles? You need to read the newbie section and also download the RAVE.

Dexcool is YUCK and almost everyone agrees it needs to be replaced and entire system flushed.

You could have many issue from the leak. If they pressure test it and can't see where the leak is coming from you could have a cracked block behind one of the piston sleeves. Again read the newbie section and do lots of searching and reading on this forum. You will learn a lot in a short time.

Ralph - Thanks for the reply!

The truck is an 04 Disco with 88k miles.

I'll go to the newbie section ASAP.

Thanks again!

spotting can come when the engine is cooling down.
Usually just a hose clamp.
Put down cardboard.
After the Disco is parked, 1/2 hour get under it and look at the spots on the cardboard
then look up and find the drip.
