Default smokin'

My '92 Disco has developed this problem, and I am scared to drive the ole girl.
Everytime I try starting her I seem to get a cloud of smoke billowing out from under the glove compartment.
I have removed the body trim but cannot find any wires burning or getting hot. The motor seems to run fine, however I don't want to risk taking her anywhere incase we go up in smoke.
Any help would be good please.

I'm not sure about discos, but on most vehicles a lot of wiring runs behide there. I had some wiring in my grand cherokee almost catch on fire behide the glove box, luckily I got it out in time. If you are seeing smoke then there is a burnt wire back there somewhere. If I were you I'd do whatever it takes to get back there to repair it.

At the very least, carry a fire extinguisher in the cab with you! You should anyways.
