Default Smoking deal!

Just purchased a 2001 Disco with front end damage. radiator, grill, lights and both front fenders are toast but car only has 80k on it. No leaks excpet for TC (of course). Has new tires and interior is in great shape. Motor cranks and sounds strong, he said he shut it off as soon as the accident happened. Picked it up for $900. What do you think? You know it is sad when I am more excited about my totaled disco than my good ones!
Cheers!

Sounds like a GREAT deal to me! What are your plans for it? Trail rig? In-house parts supply?

Post a pic so we can see what $900 got ya.

So it shut off and you were able to re start it without resetting the fuel cut off?

Also, as 03discoman said....did you look at the frame? Measure the distance hub to hub on both sides and make sure they are the same.

Sounds like you wasted $900 and now have a pit that you need to throw money into. Seriously though, good job, I'm jealous and would have taken that deal in a heart beat

I have no plans on rebuilding it, the frame is bent and I do not need another running disco. With the price people get for used parts I am going to be able to same myself a ton. The fuel shut off switch has not been reset (yes I did know that was there). The tires, rotors, and brakes are new so that alone is worth the $900. The motor, tranny, TC, drive lines, axles, and complete interior are a bonus. I am going to pull it up tonight and take the front fenders off so I can open the front doors all the way and not damage them. I will post some pics when I get it done.

Default Finally got some pics

Sorry, it has been hot as heck here in AZ and I finally got the radiator, coolers and smashed front off (with sawzall) to open up the motor compartment. I already took all the electronics and cruise control etc from the compartment to get them out of the weather but it was complete. Besides being dirty everything is straight and I already sold the bumper and tow package so making my money back quick.

I will be. I am going to keep them on probably for a week or two so I can roll it off the trailer and into the shop and pull the motor, tranny, TC, drivelines and put them in the shop then I am going to take it and put it on blocks and take the tires, rotor, brakes, sensors, hubs etc since the the brakes and rotors are new and none of the hubs are leaking and store them away out of the sun and weather.
