Its all about preference, I dont like the snorkel running down the outside of the fender so I prefer the Mantec.
I'm buying one in the spring.

I just finished putting in a Manatec tonight on mine. I also don't like anything hanging outside the fender. Plus the Manatec is all steel construction and tough as heck. Looks nice and clean when installed.

How much farther are you able to go with a snorkel with say the 4.6? And let's say extended breather tubes are installed.

I've read on various forums that they are mainly show pieces for gas engines; that deisels are the ones to really trek the waters. Just seems like there's a lot of risk.

I agree, they are mostly for show. If you're going that deep in water, it's going to get very expensive, fast, in repairs and maintenance.

What do you mean it could get real expensive real quick?

I got this deep today, and just used a half roll of paper towels sopping up the driver's side carpet. That's about as far I want to go.

Standing still in deep water is bad news. Moving through the water even at window height has been done and survived by otherwise street LR with snorkle. The after survival service is the part that would be interesting to hear more about. Servicing the hubs,diff/t case/tranny oil services and dealing with the wet computers and electrical gets EXPENSIVE.

You dont need a snorkel to wade.

But you do need to have a idea of how deep it is and the terrain underneath the water.
