Default ...so about that rear air suspension...

Why, why, oh why... (a poem about SLS)

I drive you every day,
oh faithful truck,
To work, then home..
Many places along with way...

Sometimes you sit level,
Many times quite high,
but more often than not,
space between the tires and chassis...there is nigh...

Why are you so fickle? Oh faithful Land Rover?
Sometimes you hold air...
Sometimes you leave me in quite a pickle...

In the end, I love you,
My faithful Land Rover...
I'll try to keep you driving...
Not sitting rusting in a field of tall clover...

Default Ok, here is the prob before I get booted over the poem:)

Just curious if someone can explain why my truck does the following:

- Sometimes doesn't loose air when parked
- Lately, more and more often looses all air in a matter of 15 minutes
- Initially, it only would drop on the driver side (started about a month ago) but since last week drops down to the stops on both sides

- fills up fine once started and doesn't drop down while driving

I've read all of the six or seven pages of posts about this problem...but I'm hoping I can get everyone to post their opinions on one page so that there is a somewhat comprehensive answer for the next guy

Is it just the air shocks (bellows) or is there potentially something else wrong? Where is the common problem located?

Thanks a ton! Oh and forgive me for the poem...hopefully I don't get banned....

Shannon

Dont worry about the poem, lifes to short to take it seriously.

Probably a leaking air bag, take a spray bottle full of soapy water and once they are full shut the truck off and spray around each bag and air line looking for bubbles.
Where you see bubbles there is a leak.
As you have rear you have two options, fix it or replace them with coil springs.
Personally I would replace them with springs.

I just fixed the exact same issue on mine. (99 D2 SLS, ACE) Would drive fine. Parked sometimes it would drop the driver side to the bump stops. It always would pump itself back up after a few blocks of driving. Drove like this for a couple weeks. Then the pass side started to do the same thing. Was still intermittent.

I went under the truck one day while it was on it's way down with a spray bottle loaded with soapy water. Discovered a leak in the driver air bag in the area where it folds over on the bottom. Ordered 2 (yes, highly suggest replacing both at the same time) new bags from Arnott. These have a lifetime wty. Cost with shipping was about $290.

Here is the link to the parts:

I even called them about an install question and the shop owner who was called from the parking lot (on hiis way home) came to the phone. I had a good experience with them.

Good luck, David
