well hell i might have to make the swap to premium in everything that i own.
my diesel work pick up is a company rig and they pay the fuel so putting in premium will not hurt me at all. thanks for the tips guys. this is something that is argued over and over on every forum, but its good to hear from people who have been around the actual oil industry.

If it is a diesel, then there is only one grade. Right?

RE: so why premium gas?
There are two grades of diesel, ultra low sulpher and off road diesel. Off road has a higher sulpher content.
I think what he is saying is that his work pays for the fuel for his work truck which he takes home and so he doesnt drive the LR everyday so buying premium wont be a issue because it is not his daily driver.

And to add to the confusion there is also #1 diesel and #2 diesel.
#1 is for summer use and it has a higher cetane rating.
#2 is for winter use and has a lower cetane rating.
#1 more power and better MPG then with #2. Of course this is for those of us who live in cold climates.
A lot of over the road truck drivers will buy their fuel in Florida and then drive to Michigan in the winter time and the gel up and be stuck on the side of the road with a truck that wont run.
