Default Source for Wix filters?

Anyone have a good source for Wix filters? What is the model # for the long filter like a M1 301 or K&N 3001?

Why not step up and just use the K&N or Mobil 1 filter, they are a better quality filter. That being said, yes Wix makes a pretty good filter, the others are just better.

Go to NAPA auto parts. Buy their "Napa GOLD" filter. It is Literally the same exact filter as a wix.

Part number for the Bigger size filter (M1 301 ect)

Napa Gold: 1515

Wix: 51515

You can also go here fleetfilter.com As you can see, they sell napa gold filters. They are the same as Wix.

Thanks, I use a mobile 1 filter (I have 301 on now) and from what I read the Wix/Napa Gold are just as good for half the price so I figure I would give them a try.

Is that from hear say or have you actually read some of the oil filter comparison tests?
I have settled on these 2 filters because of what I have read on 3 or 4 different tests, also found that both of these filters are made by the same company, pretty much to the same specs except for the can design, so I buy which ever one is cheaper at the time.

This comes from reading bobistheoilguy.com forums. I'm researching this now. I'm changing my oil and my parents 3 vehicles (all with mobile 1 filters) and I figure if I can get a good quality filter for less than half the price might as well.

I've read the same reports and don't get from them that K&N or Mobil 1 is better than WIX. Though both K&N and Mobil 1 are made by the same company, Champion Labs, that make some of the crapiest filters on the market. IMO you're paying a premium for a name, or for stripes and a nut.
Consider that people who's business income, long haul truckers and heavy equipment operators, trust their oil and engines to WIX and Baldwin/Hastings.

As for where to get WIX, in addition to the NAPA label, heavy truck parts and service shops carry them or Baldwin. Also a lot of independent auto parts places carry them. You know, the places where they actually have a clue.

Exactly.

Once you get in the league of PureOne, Mobil 1, Wix, Fram Extended Guard, Royal Purple, Amsoil, ect..

Then it doesn't really matter what filter you use. They're all great.

Keep in mind Royal Purple/Amsoil are 100% Synthetic glass media. Where as the others have a blend or a layer of synthetic. Does it really matter? Most likely no. You can go 7000 miles on all of those filters, but with Royal Purple and Amsoil you can easily go 15000 miles. Though, Some people go 12000 miles on Mobil 1 and Pure Ones and Fram Extended guards. They all filter oil Very well, which is what matters most. They also all have great silicone ADBV's.

We have rovers and most of us change the oil pretty often. So there isn't really a need to be spending $15.00 for a filter (Royal Purple) every 3000 miles. But if it gives you piece of mind, have at it.

Would just like to add. I have all those filters in my garage, minus the amsoil. Once I finish the Auto-RX cycle (a cleaning cycle that cleans all the crud out of the engine, BITOG users know what I'm talking about, others: auto-rx.com) I will be doing 5000 miles oil changes with each filter and getting UOA analysis with particle counts. This will give me some kind of idea of what filter, filters best for a rover.

I agree with all of these guys, and I have been saying it for a long time, the K&N and Mobil 1 oil filters are a waste of money.
And who can afford to pay $15 for one oil filter?
PureOne by Purolator was rated the best oil filter you can buy, I have the report but you will have to give me time to get to it.
