Do all engines have a spacer between the flex plate and flywheel?

I was very meticulous when I disassembled the flex plate and flywheel. No spacer in between. There were only 3 pieces. Ring on the outside of the flex plate, flex plate, and flywheel.

‘04 D2 4.6.

I ask because I’ve seen reference to a spacer in an Atlantic British video.

Still have the engine out and just want to make sure all is good before installing it.

Sorry for the late reply, I do seem to remember that spacer now after watching the video. I'm out of town for a few days but I can check my engine inventory after I get back

 

@Tony Luna That fat ring underneath ? I am pretty sure the 4.6 I tore down had that. I can check tonight

@Tony Luna I have a spacer the engine, it came out of was a 4.0 - I will get some pics for you tomorrow
