So here's the idea.
I want to take a hmmwv spare tire lift and attach it to my bumper and use it as the spare tire carrier.
my question is, 1. How would the weight be distributed and 2. Would the bumper itself even hold that much weight.
I'm thinking I would have to reinforce the bumper some how since there are only 4 bolts holding it on.
Aftermarket steel would probably be possible, but still may require some additional steel. Looks like you would have to mount it way to the R to get the pivot out of the way of the rear door.

Agree, no way that would mount to a plastic bumper...and last.
Even a steel bumper would need substantial steel to support that type of device.
Cool device, but I would seriously reconsider the weight. That thing looks like 50+ pounds. You could make something a lot simpler. For mine, I chopped apart an old wheel hub to use as the mounting plate, then fabbed up an swingaway arm using a trailer spindle and some steel. Ideally you wouldn't use an old hub either, as there's a lot of unnecessary weight there too (even after chopping off the hub and bearing bits)
Not to mention, it doesn't bring much to the table. The spare tire is already on a swing mount, the entire door. With this thing the tire will swing away to reveal... the swinging door. Unless you have a ridiculously oversized tire that simply wont fit on the door, it looks like a lot of effort for little gain.

Taking the tire weight off of the door is a great idea, esp for oversized tires. Makes a big difference. I busted a door hinge with 32" all terrains
There's a guy on Dweb who made a swingaway that latches up to the door using a heim joint, so he could open the door and swingaway in one-motion.
Obviously a steel rear bumper is a pre-requisite for any of this
Just thought I share what was done on my truck. It swings in conjunction with the rear door via a linkage bolted to the (modified) factory spare tire bracket.
