Default spare tire lock

Does anyone know where to get a lock for the spare tire of a 1977 Discovery. I have just moved into New York City, park of the street and am afraid of the spare getting stolen.

The spare getting stolen....[sm=icon_sneaky.gif]
[sm=sorry.gif]Just kidding. Any autoparts store should have wheel locks. Usually a special lugnut and the lock adapts to your tire iron. I think I have even seen them at Wal-Mart before. Good luck.

You can only buy whell locks in full sets of five from Rover or a couple different on line Rover sites, like Atlantic British or Rover Connection.

I'd just put the spare inside the back of the truck for now. I'm not sure where you moved from butthe crime isn't that bad in NYC these days. Apparently Dallas (where I live) has more crime than NYC. I've spent time in NYC too. Look on Craigslist for OEM wheel locks, I saw somebody selling a set here for $40!

I bought my spare lock individually for just $20 shipped via UPS ground. SUPER DEAL!

Only ROVERCONNECTION sells just one for $38 + shipping.

PM me your email address and I'll forward you the seller's contact info.

I'm not sure if he has anymore left, but let me know if you're interested and I can forward you his contact info.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but I just tore the spare tire cover off my truck and it looks SO much better. The tire cover was frumpy!

But that shiny rim just seems to scream "steal me", so I'd like to have a locking lug nut (or locking mechanism).

But I don't want to pay $50 (below). Anyone have any ideas for another option?

No options to speak of other then the Rover lock set that they sell.
If you are worried, you should lock all 5 tires.
Once in a while, you can find a set of locks on E-Bay.

take a bicycle lock and run it around the carrier and through the tire. That should be under $50 and look totally ghetto.

Lower your insurance deductable and have the insurance company buy you a new tire and rim.
