Default Spare Tire Sizes with Stock Rear Bumper ??

I did a search on this forum and saw all kinds of tires sizes, but I have a question:

I have the luxury of having the 2001 18”
Discovery wheels and also the 16” wheels. So I have both and getting new tires. I have a 2” Lift.

My question is on the spare with stock bumper, without turning the spare mount upside down, what size fits with the 16” wheel (will 245/75/16 fit or 245/70/16) fit SPARE in back on mount?

What about the 18” wheels?
Currently there is a 255/55/18 on spare and it looks like maybe 1/2” before it rubs stock bumper.

Will this change with aftermarket rear bumper?

Thank you!!

265/75/16 will fit without flipping the carrier. May have to loosen bumper cover a hair to lower it in the slots some (it's not noticeable) but it clears.

I was actually looking at 245/75/16 but you said the 265/75/16 clears too?

See my other response, and pardon my ignorance… but I have not loosened my rear bumper. Is it the entire bumper or is there a place to loosen the OEM rear cover of bumper?

I have taken my front off and I know it has vertical slots. Rear same?

it's the entire bumper, just a handful of bolts if I remember correctly. Yes I have a 265/75/16 on a stock orientated carrier on my green d2, it's tight but it does clear with zero contact. 265/75 should be larger than a 245/75 but I don't know exactly how much off hand.

I mounted a 275/70-R18 (33”) on the stock carrier without flipping it and I have plenty of clearance. I moved the tire up and used only the top two bolts on the carrier. You can see the lower bolt sticking through the spokes. I have had it mounted like this for at least 10 years with ZERO issues. I recently had my bumpers, roof rack, roof rails and tire carrier powder coated and the tire carrier showed no signs of cracks or weakness.

Do you like the 275/75/18 ?

I have both wheel sets (5), one in the 16” and the other set is in the 18”.

Trying to decide on 245/75/16 or should I go the 18” wheel set route with something like yours. I guess it’s a personal preference and what wheels a person has. I have both sets.

If anyone wants to chime in on the 16” wheels vs 18” wheels, I would appreciate it. Maybe @DiscoMike will ???

thanks.
