Spark plugs (may be a stupid question)
I have an '01 DII with the SES light on. The mechanic says cyl 2, 4 & 6 are misfiring and that a good place to start would be to check out the spark plugs. Here comes the stupid question: Is there anything wierd I should know about plugs on a DII before I get started? (do I have to circle the vehicle twice and curtsy before I can lift the hood?) I wouldn't normally ask a question like this about any other vehicle but, with a Rover...you never know.
The engine in your disco is just a buick V8, nothing particularly complicated if you have a good set of extensions. The block is aluminum so don't torque them too tight and rip out the threads. Wires are probably the problem but do both.
I just changed my plugs... glad I did because I got to find out I was driving with the original plugs. I have no clue why the previous owners never changed them out. Even without my new wires installed, the thing drives better.
Changing the plugs in my DII was one of the easiest plug changes I've done... easy access and plenty of room to ratchet with the right length extensions.

There is about 115,000 miles on it, I only run premium. The wires (according to the a Rover-specific mechanic) are recently new. I am not sure when the last tune up was. I am going to check the plugs to see if they are in rough shape...trying to rule out the cheap stuff first.
I have had the vehicle for only about a year now.
