Default Speedo out and abs light on help!

SO

I just purchased an 02 disco, and the two things im having trouble with are

SPEEDO acting up. When i start the truck, sometimes after the bulb check completes the three amigos and another green light flash on and go off, sometimes nothign at all. When I go to move, the abs light will stay on, and the speedo is dead, odom too. Then the abs light will go out and everything is working fine again. very rarely does the speedo work, and the abs light stays off, its like its a short or something. in the rare times everything does work, none of the lights stay on after i start it, bulb check then fine. HOWEVER, i have noticed when i start the truck USUALLY the other two amigos do not work for the bulb check, they are dead, nothing. but they will flash soemtimes when shifting into gear or with the abs when it comes on, but they then go out and the abs stays on.

BASICALLY, i have my abs light on all the time, and no speedo or odom, cruise is out too. so if i get lucky when i start the car the lights wont be on and the speedo works for a mile or something, if it is working, EVERYTHING works UNTIL i hit the brake the first time, then it all goes out, its like its related to the brake pedal or circuit. I also have a 40amp fuse under the hood in the fuse box, corresponds to the picture of a radiator with a fan over it.....any help?? i have changed the fuse and it blows when i drive.

CD player not working, seems like no power to the changer under the seat, and the radio button to select cd does nothing. when i try to get the cd mag out there is not power at the changer, just dead, help!

Sounds like yoru SLABS unit is going dead.
It controls your brakes and I dont know what else, but because it acts up when you hit the brakes then it must control more than just brakes, make sense?
If it is the SLABS unit you are looking at some big bucks.
www.roverlandparts.com for a used one.
But you will need to have this confirmed by the dealer first.

so i was looking at roverland, not bad prices, there are some CHEAP CHEAP salvage yards in columbus, ohio where i used to live, actually have TONS of rover parts, if you catch them on a good day.....i mean for the 04 i had i got a new headlight, the ones that are BIG bucks for 20 bucks, yes i said twenty. lol

Now i will have to find someone around the toledo area that has the test book or auto logic to check my truck out, as they closed the dealer here a few years ago....go figure

any other thoughts guys besides the slabs

I was thinking about this while in the shower and if I remember right the SLABS controls everything, I dont have access to my RAVE CD as my pc is dead and I have to use my wifes and I cant load it into her pc...
AK Rover has the RAVE download in his signiture, it is THEE shop manual for Rovers.

so i was reading through the rave, yes it does have a part in the cruise, speedo, abs, hill descent, and a host of other stuff besides brakes, none of these things i mentioned work wehn the abs light is on so it must be it!, almost seems like a loose connection.....but then that wouldnt cause the lights to go on and off

Sounds more like a loose connection or could be just a bad / corroded earth / ground for the SLABS Ecu. Check that out and also make sure its plugged in properly as well. Its located behind the glove box on my car, I cannot be certain if it is on a NAS spec or not, if not, then its behind the lower steering colum facia panel.

The SLABS Ecu gets its speed reading from the ABS sensors, so if they go down (maybe due to poor connection at ECU) then the speedo wont work, offcourse as already suggested, the ECU itself could be duff, but I have not heard of them failing before.

You are most likely blowing that fuse because your electronic fan has failed. Driving it that will will allow you to torch you engine on a hot day in stop and go traffic, get that fixed first.
The 1592 is a ABS/rough road signal high, suggesting signal from SLABBS ECU shirt circuit to vehicle battery.
