just make sure you look at the existing wires and how they connect in the plug and match up with the sensor
than you can match them properly
last thing you want is to mix up the wiring

I have a simular problem with the O2 sensors throwing codes after a splash and running rich. But usually it dries out in 24 hrs. I thought about putting dielectric grease on/in the plugs but now I'm not sure.

I never used dielectric grease on the sensors, but I do use it on the trailer plug. Makes a world of difference in keeping everything clean and happy.

I’m gonna look at making new plugs as suggested by redwhitekat but I might end up just hardwiring, I’ll let you know how it works

I might have to try that, I think I rewire my trailer plug every year no matter what I do. How and where do you apply it?

I had my rig submerged. No codes for a couple of weeks then I got a downstream O2 heater circuit code. Pulled the plug and it had dried out but there was oxidation on 2 pins. I sprayed some CLR into the plug to remove the oxidation, rinsed with DI water and dried it. I normally don't use dielectric grease on O2 connectors but I applied some sparingly to the pins to prevent any more oxidation.

I'd not use dialectic grease inside 02 sensor plug. Most, but not all, 02's retrieved outside oxygen readings through the wires themselves. So, plugging up the harness plug with grease would interfere with extrenal oxygen readings. Roughly, the 02 is measure both internal and external oxygen levels and comparing them, sending that info to ECU, where it gets diagnosis and fuel trim is set accordingly. Putting a small dab/light film of silicone around the interior of the female plug, just enough to help shield water from penetrating, should help...but don't over do it.

I’d assume it’s some rtv type stuff but everyone has their opinion about what’s the best. Experience is everything..

Thanks
Try Dow Corning 4, otherwise known as DC4. Electrical insulating compound.

This would happen to me as well whenever I washed the truck or drove it in any appreciable amount of rain. I pulled back the boot on the 02 sensor and put dielectric grease on the connector where the wire runs in to it. After a 3 hour drive in a rainstorm yesterday I’m reasonably certain the fix worked.
