Default Sport Mode button

We have an 02 Series II and the sport mode button at the bottom of the transmission shifter doesn't seem to be working, is there a light or something that would tell me that it is engaged or an audible tone to let me know it is working? If there is, what steps should I take to find out how to fix this problem?\

Thanks in advance,

Ryan

When activated there should be a green "S" with picture of a ring gear illuminated on the dash. Likewise, when in 4-lo if you push the same button an "m" will illuminate indicating manual mode.

Yea, that definitely isn't working. Have you (or anybody reading this forum) seen any Haynes repair manuals for 02 Discovery's?

Go to eBay and pick up the RAVE CD for your LR model. I did a search on mine and found one for $10. Good investment if you plan on doing anything yourself.

I have a '00 model with 68,XXX miles on it and am experiencing the same issue. Haven't had time to have my codes checked but I'll be curious to know what you find out about your '02 so please post your results to the thread.

Is your check engine light or other warning like on, if so what are the fault codes?

Ahh manual mode....I love the power in 1st gear manual mode.I freaked my friends out in that gear. It takes off like crazy through the trail. and you never get stuck if you have that gear....If you don't believe me, i'll post some pictures.

I checked the Sport Mode button again and it is working, I don't know if I did something wrong, or if it was just a fluke, but the green light comes on with the audible tone.

Currently looking for a PDF version of this so called RAVE CD...

I have a 200for disco too and I can get the sport mode to come on just fine but I’m not sure what you mean in your description of how to access the full manual mode. I know that my light indicator works because whenever it cycles on that light illuminates. Do you have any thoughts?

Manual mode only works in 4Lo & makes your 4spd Auto act like a manual transmission.
