srs light
I started getting an srs light about 4 months ago. At first is was infrequent, but started popping up more often, and ended up pretty much staying on all of the time.
Then, after failing to negotiate an obstacle on a trail and flopping my disco onto the drivers side the light went out! Thought it was fixed, now about three weeks later it has reappeared.
I am thinking t is a connection issue somewhere?? But where do I start to look??

Be sure to post an update on what you find. I've had similar behavior (Light was intermittent for a while and now is on constantly. I've cleaned the connectors but haven't checked fuses. Or rolled it

The safe and easier answer is to have the code read but I am too stubborn so I did it this way on my D2..the system is pretty simple when you turn on the key the abs ecu measures (among other things) the resitances of the two air bags and the two pretensioners through the wiring going to them from the ecu..if the resistance is not correct (about 2.5 ohms) for each component it turns on the srs light. I went to radio shack and got a 25 ohm potentiometer (u could also just get a 2.5 ohm resistor, but they didn't have any) adjusted it to near 2.5 ohm with my multimeter, and tested each component one at a time by basically replacing it with the potentiometer..I undid the yellow connector under the seat and using aligator clip wires connected the potentiometer, then turned on the ignition..after I did it on the drivers side my light went out, therefore i knew there was a problem with the drivers pretentioner or the yellow wire to it..as long as there is not more than one problem and the wiring to the connectors is sound this method should work..don't test the resistance of the air bag or pretensioners directly to find the fault because they could deploy..my fault was actually in the connector that plugs into the pretensioner at the other end of the yellow wire and not the pretensioner itself..the connection to the mini coil in the plug is simply a scotch lock type groove connection and not soldered like the connections in the airbag plugs are, not very good in a possibly damp environment..anyway I fixed the connection in the plug and srs light off
Also, on my Wife's VW, a wire to the switch in the seat belt was broken. I fixed the wire to turn off the SRS light. Not sure if the Disco has the Belt Switches, but it's something else to check. They tend to break due to being flexed every day when you get in and out.
