Did it come on before you removed your steering wheel or after?
If after, either you damaged the spiral ring or it has been caused by a low voltage fault caused by disconnecting your battery.
It will not reset itself so ask you mechanic if he has a lap top scanner that can clear it.

Hi Mike, It only came on after I put it all back together. If I had damaged the spiral ring would there be any other symptoms?

Also the red, 2 pin push in connector to the back of the airbag seems quite sloppy/loose, any way to make this tighter without damaging either end of the connections?

Thanks

You need to find a mechanic who can read the SRS codes.

Thanks for all the advice, solved. The sloppy connection into the back of the airbag. Every time I carefully lifted the bag off the wheel I could see that the red connector had fallen off each time. Somehow it magically clicked firmly into place on the third try and the SRS went out.
