Default Stalling and dies when hot!

My 95' Disco stalls, loose power and then cuts off on the streets or highway. I might get a little far or got some miles before it does it again. How can you tell if it's a bad fuel pump? I hear a electric motor sound from the rear. It gets louder as the day and engine heats up. My Disco isn't over heating. I just bought it and slow working out all the problems for the trails.

you can test pressure with a fuel pressure tester.

First thing I would do is replace the fuel filter.
Then check for fuel pressure. It does this while driving and not when coming to a stop?
www.atlanticbritish.com and read their tech tips.

It does it while driving and when I come to a stop light or on a off ramp. Not all the time. Only when the Disco been running a round all day and by the end of couple of hours. It starts to act up again. What about the Fuel Temp Sensor?

It could be the fuel temp senor. That usesally stalls the engine when coming to a stop.
Do you know if the gas tank was ever replaced under the recall? Call your dealer with the VIN# tommorrow and find out. The bad gas tanks caused stalling problems.

Yes they replace the fuel tank. There was a problem with them not venting properly andthe fuel pump would suck all theair out and because the vent was not working the way it should the engine would run out of gas even though there was still gas in the tank.
It would only happen on longer trips or when the engine had been running for a long time.
That may or may not be your problem. But it is worth a look.

No they will not. Only the defective part covered under the recall. But keep in mind that this may have already been done. 90% of them have been fixed already. Only your dealer can say for sure.
But it is worth a phone call before you spend any money.

I have the same Issue I have a 99 Disco II. I can get it to shut off by just letting it idle in the drive way. If I wait 30 min of so it fires up and runs for 10-15min then it does it again. I ran the codes and pulled P1590, PO440 and PO335. I have not called to see if the tank had been replaced yet.
