I have the full size safari rack on my Disco, and I'm prepping to repaint roof. I want to remove the origional roof rails before painting, to give a cleaner look when the rack if refitted.
Does the headliner need to come off to get at the bolts?

sorry, couldn't pass that one up. you might be able to move the headliner out of the way here and there, it might be easier to take it out. not that tough a project, just a bit meticulous.

 

I removed my 03 and replaced with the 04 pipe rails. Just remove the plastic pieces and pull down headliner enough to get a wrench in there. Took me about an hour total.

 

Ok thanks guys, was hoping not to mess with headliner as it's pretty much brand new, deep down I kinda knew I'd have to, hopefully I can just loosen some of it, thanks.
