Default Starting Issues

I have a 95 Discovery (Manual) which has been well maintained and cared for. The maintance is documented from the beginning of its life through now. It has been driving fine and working fine. The car has about 120K miles on it. I came home one night without an issue with it and the next morning it would not start. The battery is good, and it turned over but sounded like is wasn't sparking or maybe a issue with the started. There was a faint steady noise coming from the alternator when after i tried to start it. I disconected the battery for a while and the tried to start it again and still no luck.

Does anyone have any ideas? Am i on the right track with the started and maybe the teeth aren't catching and its a little worn out?

You need to varify if you have fuel pressure at the fuel rail and spark at the plugs, then get back to us.
