Default Starting Issues

I've searched and searched and searched and I can't find anything about the specific problem I'm having.

When I get up to crank my 04 disco in the morning it will not start right up, I have to attempt to crank it for a few seconds, let off the ignition then turn it over again before it'll crank up, it does the same thing if it has sat for a few hours... if it's warm then it cranks up just fine...I don't want to just start replacing things like the fuel pump, starter, crank sensor, spark plugs, etc...you get the point... Anyone else ever had this problem??

Fuel system is bleeding off pressure after truck turned off, very slowly. When you first turn key to position 2, but don't crank, pump will run for a few seconds. The ECU notices that crankshaft is not turning, so it powers down the pump. Repeat several times, never turning all the way to crank. This will build up the pressure so injectors will work. Save up for fuel pump, about $80 part if you replace the innards with an Airtex pump from the parts store. Pump and filter are one unit inside the tank, comes out through the floor of the cargo area. There is a fuel PSI test port, but hard to get at under back corner of upper intake manifold. A pressure gauge there would confirm all this.

off topic, but I was at the Antique Archeology store in Nashville, they had a motorcycle with two 3 cylinder engines, I think BSA, it at one time held the world speed record on the salt flats. With all your toys, oil change weekend must be fun.

thanks for all the replies, i tried letting it sit for 10-20 seconds this morning with the key set before start and it didnt change anything, still kept trying to crank but wouldnt until i let off and tried again...

it has 93000 miles, no dash lights or warning codes, head gaskets were replaced around 80000 miles, nothing crazy happening with it but the cranking issue... the only codes it has shot off in the past year has been the p0455, large evap leak

savannah, i will try what you suggested the next time that it sits for a few hours

again, thanks all for your replies and help!

"two 3 cylinder engines, I think BSA" would have been a BSA rocket or a triumph trident motors. They are almost like land Rover there electrics are all from "the prince of darkness" Lucas.
