As for the oil, 15W just won't do. My only option then seems to be Rotella T6 fully synthetic. Why switch from Mobil 1 synthetic to Rotella T6 if they are both fully synthetic, I thought the whole point of switching to Rotella was that you can buy the dino one that works best with these engines? Thanks for everything so far guys.
How much is leaking? If we are talking a little bit, I would say no and just live with it. Also, please check that access panel and see how much is in the bell house.

I'm not so mechanically inclined (this is the first vehicle I've ever done work on, basic as it has been), and I'm not sure how to access the bell housing. Also, this is a pretty small leak. It's about a quart every month and a half. I just keep a gallon of oil in the back with me at all times. Not sure if I shouldn't worry or if I should take it to the stealership.

The (3) 8mm bolts that hole the round plate in your picture, take that off and look up in there with a flashlight

I personally, wouldn't sweat the oil leak based off the amount you described. A slightly thinker dino blend would potentially slow the leak down but, not stop it.

The point is the ZDDP additive. As I mentioned, you can put in an engine break in additive like comp cams with the oil you are using. The design of the engine needs more detergent in the oil, which has been eliminated in regular oil, hence the use of diesel oils.

I don't know what Blue Devil rear main sealer is.
If it's an oil additive that's supposed to seal the leak, it sounds like bs.
If, if, it did work, then what else is it gumming up inside the engine? Oil passages for one thing.
I would pass on that.
You may try just tightening the valve covers.
Not too much either, they only call for 6' lbs.
I would just keep an eye on the oil level, add as needed, and fix it right when you have the time.
As for what oil, I use Rotella 15w40 also.
But that's just Me...otherwise, I'm staying out of any oil arguements.

The additive in the Blue Devil causes the seals to swell. Doesn’t affect anything else from what I understand.

Old trick. Just add brake fluid.

Well I just ended up googling it and the damn Mobil 1 extended performance DOES have the zinc additives. Hallelujah, no worries there. As for the valves, I'll not worry too much for now. Maybe get in there and tighten up, I'll check the forums for stuff on this.

The other 2 out of the three reasons to use Rotella are cost and availability. $12.99 a gallon at Walmart.

You still might still want to switch to a 5w-40 due to your cold weather and to a larger oil filter like the m1-301. Though others can chime in better on that than me.
