Default Static roof maximum load / weight

Folks before I get tongue lashed i did try to search for these figures and as i have no manual i trust you can appreciate my position.

That said i was hoping to get the figures for both dynamic (180 lbs?) and static maximum loads for a DII? I ask because i am on the heavier side of husky and would like to know if i will run into any problems associated with a RTT and my generous carriage.

Best

Bump, come on?? Also can any one speak to the strength of the spare tire holder? I dont have a ladder and was thinking of just popping up to the rack on the spare, can that safely be done?

110 lbs on the rack, 66lbs offroad. Right in the manual.

I am 200# and stand on the tire carrier to wax the roof. That said, many of the Camel trophy vehicles have problems with the rear door hinges from people accessing the roof from the tire carrier.

If you do not have a manual, downlod the Rave manual in my sig. It has everything you will need. free...

Thnx for the reply but i think the numbers that you are speaking to are the dynamic (read moving) weight. I am trying to ascertain the static (read stationary) max weight figures for the roof rail supports.

Rack 80 lbs
Tent 150 lbs
Two full size adults 2@ 220
Misc. gear and coolers on rack 100 lbs
Wind load on deployed tent (X) lbs
Snow load on deployed tent (X) lbs

= never had an issue....

Having a rack is a different story, but from the manual, the factory roof rails on a D2 only support 110lbs on road moving and 66lbs offroad moving. Not sure what the static loads are rated at, or why you would need them. Are you wanting to stand on the truck?

Just stay off the glass on the sunroofs.

Worst case the sheet metal on the roof buckles, if so you climb inside the truck and push it back up with your hands.
No big deal in my opinion.

I used to have a Chevy station wagon and we used to sit on the roof to watch fireworks.
Next day push the roof back out, good as new.

AH, the good ole' days watching fireworks on the roof ! I have wondered how much weight gutters can handle on the D2. I know that many of the high-end racks have 8-12 feet that mount on the gutters, down the sides of the roof and some on the front and rear of the roof gutters as well. These racks put the weight on the gutters which is putting on the vehicle frame down the pillars I guess.

I have seen some setups with Thule & Yakima load bars with just two bars and 2 mounting feet on each side, totaling 4 mounting feet to the gutters. I have seen tents mounted on wood/metal/fiber floors attached to these. I talked with a tent guy about this setup and he said it would work, but he would recommend 3-4 bars, so you could have a total of 8 mounting points to the gutters It would then support support the tent assembly and two adults with gear. I was surprised the gutters could handle this much weight.

Guys thanks for all of the input! I guess i should have stated that i am getting a Garvin Wilderness Rack (8 mounting points 7'x4.5'x6")with a Farmtek flooring and i want to make sure that i am not going to mess anything up before i dole out the cash for a RTT. Again thanks for the insight
