steel wheels and tires
I'd like to get this set of steel wheels from roverparts. My current tire size is 255/65-16, and eventually would like to get 265/70-16 (with 2" OME lift). These wheels will fit both sizes right? The steelies are 16x7, and from the owner's handbook it looks like my current alloys are 8J x 16. What size is that? Can I look on the back of my wheel to find it? Thanx.

Since my DII will be mostly a daily driver, even after the lift, I figured it would be better to go wider than taller for the sake of handling.

You will need to decide as to the width size you want, I have nly run 8" wheels on my truck and most people in the 3 different Rover clubs I have been in only run 8's. Your current wheels are 8"s wide, which is a size that will easily handle any tire you decide to use.
What is the truck used for, If you want a little height and width I would suggest that your next tire size be a 245/75/16.
The price for the wheels that you are looking for is a little high. You might call Tina at http://www.trekoutfitters.com/extra/...gear/index.htm
and consider some of here.
Good luck whatever way you go.

Thanks DM, after thinking about it some more last night, and before reading your reply this morning I decided to keep the 16x8 wheel size. I sent an email to Tina asking about how much 5 16x8's shipped would be. On my list of upgrades I have both 265/70-16 and 245/75-16 listed but wasn't sure which set to choose. Looks like I'll go with your suggestion Mike, and put on the 245/75-16 tires once I get the OME.

Will the 245's fit without a lift? I haven't looked for bigger tires yet but plan to get them when I purchase the 2" OME lift (which won't be until spring). I currently have Geolanders with a good amount of tread left. My plan is to put the Geo's on the steelies for now, then do the spring upgrade.

If the 245's go on now is there any need for larger tires after the lift? Seems like once the lift is installed I want as much room for articulation of the tires. Also, will the spare tire have mounting issues with the 245's? Thanks for all your advice Mike.
