Default Steering concern

I had a chance today to drive a 2004 Disco and noticed the steering is way better than my 03 Disco. I was almost able to make a complete u turn on a residential street. On my 03, it takes 2 tries sometimes to even park. Did LR make a change for the 2004 model year? It was day and night compared to mine.
thanks!

As far as I know the ' and are exactly the same.
Tire size will make a difference.

Sorry, what I meant was tire width.
A 245/ is thinner than a 265/ for example.
To wide of a tire can interfear with your turning radius.
Your turning stops could be out of adjustment, new power steering fluid will help, could be they made the "04 have a better turning circle.

My repair shop told me they did make a change to the 04, but he said it had a larger turning radius, not that it was easier.

Strange.

I can't imagine it having an evenlarger turning radius... My 02 takes a parking lot to turn around in as is.Takes me two or three tries to parkin a spot whenI'vebeen driving my pick up a lot.Because of that (and door dings) I park out back and hike in to the stores.

Urban Panzer posted on this a long time ago. Some vehicles have a stop bolt installed on the A-arm that prevents the wheel from being turned as far lock to lock, and consequently the turning radius to increase. Not sure why but it probably has to do with the maximum size tire that shipped on that particular trim level for the Discovery. You can checkfor the bolt stop. My '04 is an S and has a great turning radius, fortunately.

The 2 trucks have identical steering components, however there are 3 things that can effect the steering radius, one, as already mentioned, the actual tire size, and or the steering stops. The 3rd. thin that will effect the steering radius is a lift which will cause your front axle to the left/drivers side and limited the turning radius to the right.

Thanks for the info. I can confirm both trucks had 255-55-18 installed. I will check my steering stops, if they are ok, then oh well, I will have to live with it.

It's not if they are OK but are they set to give you the most turn with out restricting the turning radius?
