03 no ace
pretty new pump. no leaks full fluid, correct fluid. it groans a little from time to time especially when i'm backing up (makes no sense to me)

what in the system can develop friction? seems like it slowly got stiff over time

 

The pump could be wearing out. It's possible that it's starting to lose pressure internally.

 

mind did the same thing.....I assumed it was the pump....wrong....ended up replacing the steering box....that did the trick
