If you want a stabilizer that will last, like my 110,000 mile OME then that is what you want, those cheap black stabilizers are not worth a dam.
So have you tested the rest of the steering and front suspension for weakness?

Morning, Mike. I had a local independent guy who works on Rovers around here look at it. He recommended changing the stabilizer and tie rod end. I'm also going to check that torx bolt once I referenced the RAVE manual to find where it's at Other than that I'm at a loss, don't know much about any of it. I'm learning as I go here.

I'm away from my computer so I can't reference the RAVE but was hoping to pick up the torx for the adjustment - does anyone know what size I need to buy? It'd save me another trip to town

The steering stabilizer is not needed unless you hard core off road.
The black one is the OEM.
Buy whats in your budget, dont let others fool you, mine is original, 230,000 miles and my truck tracks just fine, steering wheel is fine over bumps, logs, rocks, ruts...
The ONLY thing the steering stabilizer does is keep the steering wheel from snapping around and breaking your thumb when you hit a rock at LOW SPEEDS, it does NOTHING at road speed.

Hold off on trying to adjust the gear box, not know how to do it can cost you a new box.
Have you had all your steering inspected, including tie rod ends and all bushings up thru the radius arms?

I had an independent guy who works on Rovers (not exclusively) near me look at it. One of my tie rod ends was shot, the other had been replaced right before I bought it. Plus he said the stabilizer was shot. I can't say exactly what he checked though.

So, are you going to replace the tie rod ends and stabilizer to save some money?

Not sure what you mean? I've already replaced them. I still have some "loose" steering so trying to figure out the culprit to get it fixed. There's a local shop that specializes in suspension should I have them diagnose it?

I missed the fact that you had already replaced the parts.
What shape are your tires in, what air pressure do you run, front and rear?

Have you had your alignment checked?
