Default Steering Wheel rub?

Every morning just when I begin to turn the steering wheel when backing out it rubs for a second or two as I turn. As I continue on with my drive it stops. What is causing this?

I have 265/75-16 BFG's w/a 2" lift kit and about 51k miles on it. The fluid for the power steering unit is at the max level.

Is it like a groan, does it happen when you turn left or right? Mine does it when I turn right, some times and I was told you can remove the cover behind the steering wheel and there is a spot where you can lube the shaft, haven't done it yet though.

Yes, That is exactly what it is. I will try to remove the cover and check out that area to lubricate. Thanks-

PLEASE post the result. I've had that little groan forever and haven't been able to track it down.

2nd thought... maybe not so easy. What is the trick to get the cover off or get access to the part that needs lubricating? Is it located under the plastic collar that houses the key cylinder near the fuse drawer?

How would you remove the plastic cover that is directly behind the steering wheel and contains the key cylinder and the tilt latch?

Thanks-
